THE
4TH NIGERIA–CHINA BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT FORUM, (NCBIF)
SHENZHEN 20TH – 21ST JULY, 2006
INTRODUCTION
1.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria and the People’s Republic
of China had maintained a 35 year old cordial Economic
and Diplomatic relationship. The trade volume between
the two countries was U. S. 2.8 billion in Year 2005.
China’s export to Nigeria was U.S. $2.3 Billion, while
her imports from Nigeria is U.S.$500.00 Million. The
value of exports of Shenzhen Municipality to Nigeria
was U.S.$259.18 Million, while her imports from Nigeria
was very negligible. The cordial relationship between
the two countries has been further strengthened by the
recent visit of President Hu Jintao to Nigeria, signaling
a deep economic ties between Nigeria and China.

In order to further strengthen the economic ties, the
4th Nigeria – China Business and Investment Forum (NCBIF)
will be holding in Shenzhen from 20th– 21st July, 2006.
The Forum is yet another opportunity for Nigerian and
Chinese Businessmen, Investors and Entrepreneurs to
further boost trade and investment relations between
the two continental giants.
OBJECTIVES

The objective of the 4th Nigeria-China Business investment
forum (BIF)
amongst others is to consolidate on the cordial trade
and investment relations existing between the two countries.
At this Forum key industry leaders and policy makers
from Nigeria and P. R. China will be brought together
to discuss mutually beneficial business interests with
a view to match-making joint ventures partners. The
Forum will also serve as an avenue to showcase to the
Chinese business leaders and public officials the numerous
investment opportunities that abound in Nigeria, as
result of the reforms in key sectors of the Nigerian
economy. The main target the Forum is to help in attracting
the needed technology and investment from P. R. China
into the key sectors of the Nigerian economy

The 4th NCBIF is scheduled to hold at the Hilton Hotel,
Beijing on the 17th and 18th July 2006 and the Crowne
Plaza in Shenzhen, on the 20th and 21st July, 2006 respectively.
The Forum will be held in Plenary and Break-out Sessions.
The Break-out Sessions will cover the following key
sectors of the Nigerian economy:-
(i) Agriculture/Agric Business
(ii) Solid Minerals
(iii) Telecommunication/Information Technology
(iv) Transport/Aviation
(v) Manufacturing/Small and Medium Scale Enterprises
(vi) Oil and Gas
(vii) Power/Energy
(viii) Financial Services

The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC),
the Organisers of the Forum, will work in close collaboration
with the Embassy of Nigeria, Beijing, Nigeria Trade
Office, Shanghai, Shenzhen Bureau of Trade and Industry
and the China Council for the Promotion of International
Trade (CCPIT) Shenzhen branch, to ensure that the NCBIF
in Shenzhen is a great success.
